I have recently read two books for Bethany House Publishing. The first is “Touching the Sky” by Tracie Peterson. Peterson is one of my favorite authors already, I have to confess. I have read just about everything she has written and I was excited to be able to review this book. This is book 2 in a series called Land of the Lone Star. I had not read the first book in the series previously, but after reading this book I went to the library and found it to read. I really liked this book, it was an easy read and very engaging. I love learning more about Texas in the mid-late 1800’s and what it was like to live there just after the civil war. This is a great book and I would highly recommend it.
The second book I read was called “Angels, Miracles, and heavenly encounters” by James Stuart Bell. To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of this one. I actually only got two-thirds of the way through it before I was uninterested. It is a compilation of stories, as the title suggests, about angels, miracles and also demons. Some of the stories were too dark and mystic for me. Some dealt with ghosts and other crazy things. I was looking for more uplifting stories. The stories also become monotonous as themes repeated themselves frequently. Maybe it’s just not my genre, but I would not recommend this book.
I was not paid to review these books. These books were given to me to review by the publisher Bethany House.
