Update on family in Ghana

I had previously posted about a family who had been detained in Ghana as they had travelled to adopt four children. They had two biological children with them at the time. All the children were taken and placed into an orphanage. This happened late last week. This weekend the family was released from jail and the biological children were returned to them. They are still fighting to gain custody of the adopted children. The Ghanaian officials have apologized for detaining them and admitted to making a mistake. Both NPR and the Associated press have posted stories about this family and all the details I have shared are indeed true. This family still needs our prayers to be able to take the adopted children home with them. Here is a quote from the family’s blog today.

“Words are not enough to express how grateful to all of you that have been praying and taking action on our behalf. We are emotionally exhausted and traumatized from the entire incident but we are thankful to have support and prayers from friends and family worldwide. Our case is not complete yet but our chief officer from the Ghana police department has apologized for their overreaction and stated that our detainment was a mistake on their part. Although we have many pending circumstances before uniting our family, we have complete trust in God that He will provide a way out and heal our family from this traumatic situation. We are SO thankful to our dear friends here, our adoption agency and to all of you that reported our case to the State department and the US embassy. Action is being taken place and we are praying for God’s justice and mercy to reign”

Thank you for praying for this family. We are deeply touched by their situation and cannot imagine what they have been through. We also know that all things work together for good for those who love God and we trust that God will have His way in this situation.
