Hors d’oeuvres

Friday night Glenn and I went to his work Christmas party. To be honest, they are not my favorite places to be. I am such an introvert that it’s hard for me to make small talk all the time, but I go for his sake. Honestly, any place I can go with Glenn and not my kids is a good place. lol. Glenn’s parents bravely babysat our four kids plus our niece too. We got to the party on the earlier side of the time window. Glenn and I had talked about whether or not to eat first before going since they were supposed to have hors d’oeuvres at the party but not actual dinner. We decided we would go to the party first and then if we were still hungry, to eat afterwards.

We got to the place where the party was being held and got some drinks. Then we saw that there was pizza and wings out too. We were thrilled when we realized that we could now make a dinner out of this! We proceeded to fill up our plates and then go back for seconds. About an hour later we were still standing around talking to people and having a good time when we realized a horrible truth. There wasn’t any more food coming out. The food that was there when we arrived was all there was and we had eaten like pigs! How embarrassing! You never want to be that person who pigs out on hors d’oeuvres at a party and then no one else gets any. Oh well, who knew? That’s what we get for being cheap Byrums and trying to make a meal out of hors d’oeuvres. To all of our fellow party attenders, we apologize. Next year we will know better and no make pigs of ourselves. oink oink!
