What is on your car?

I find it really interesting what stickers people put on their cars. I think it says a lot about you, what stickers you have on your car. My husband got called up for jury duty recently and one of the questions they asked him in the screening process was what stickers he had on his car. Not really sure what part that would play in a court case, but I guess it shows what you are passionate about.

You see all kinds of stickers on cars. Lately there have been a lot of those stick people family stickers. You know the ones with little stick figures for all the people in your family including your pets. You see them on minivans most often. I will admit to wanting one of those. So, I went looking for some. I didn’t want the average, run of the mill ones, I wanted some that were uniquely us, since we have a unique family. I found lots to choose from and ordered some for our van. I decided on some that were from Star Wars. The parent stickers are two AT-AT’s and the kids stickers are AT-ST’s. My husband loved Star Wars as a kid, and still does really, so he was thrilled with my choice. I just like the uniqueness of them and since we have all boys, nothing says boys like Star Wars.

My husband is a school administrator for a local school near where we live. He often sees families from the school out and about. There are car stickers for his school and I wanted to buy one to put on our cars, since he works there and my son goes to school there. He said “no”. I had no idea why not. He said he didn’t always drive as he should and didn’t want people knowing he was a staff member at the school in case he wasn’t driving nicely. Very honest of him, I thought. I don’t have a school sticker either. Mostly because I don’t want to be recognized everywhere I go, too late for that really, I can barely go anywhere without someone associating me with the school. But I digress.

I was thinking about this sticker thing and wondering if I should get some Christian sticker for my car. What my husband had said about the school really made me think, “am I acting Christlike enough all the time to have a Christian sticker on my car?” Do I represent Christ well when I drive? I have to confess that I don’t all the time. But it sure makes me think about it more now. I haven’t decided if I think it’s a good idea to have a Christian sticker on your car or not. Hopefully people can tell I am a Christian whether or not it can be seen on my car.

  1. Cool post! Your thoughts are so true. We do have to watch EVERYTHING we do, especially if we “advertise” who we are. Talk about taking a chance to be hypocritical.

  2. I love those stick figure stickers, too, Ruth! I love to look at them and figure out what each one represents whether is adult or child or pet and I’m amazed by some that seem to stretch from one side of the vehicle to the other!! I think Star Wars would be extremely appropriate for my household as well seeing that my dear hubby is an avid Star Wars fan. 🙂 I’ll have to look into them. Currently, we have no stickers on our van or car and may not ever have any. My husband is not a big fan of stickers on vehicles. I’m not sure exactly why unless it just makes them look junky if you get excessive with them. So, I’ll have to see if I can tempt him into changing his mind about that with the Star Wars version. 🙂
